A great comic strip from SMBC on the ethics of AI.
It was almost 20 years ago that Deep Blue beat Kasperov, but even 2 years ago in 2014 it was predicted humans would still dominate Go for years to come. Wrong. A deep learning computer just beat an expert Go player 5-0. Singularity Hub covers the story.
The Metro has an even tempered article on the jobless future. Quoting several economists and futurist Martin Ford. The conclusion though is all too familiar…the robots will steal your jobs.
Interesting read about the future of machine learning, especially for start ups. Including this great infographic.
Data, not algorithms, is key to machine learning success
An excellent article in Harvard Business Review by Martin Ford on the inability of future innovation to create mass employment. He goes so far as to suggest a guaranteed income, anathema to many conservative and all libertarians.

The folks over at Singularity Hub recently covered a story about scientists who created a direct connection from the brain of a female patient (suffering from Lou Gehrig’s disease) directly to a tablet. Obviously this dramatically improved her quality of life. She can now google with ease. As an Android user, I was pleased to see that the device was the Nexus 9. Seriously touching story though.
